Barman explained in a 83 seconds spot
On the dawn of the release of version 1.1.0 of Barman, we are proud to publish our first video/spot for the promotion of our open source tool. The goal of the video is to emphasize the importance of physical hot backups and disaster recovery solutions for PostgreSQL databases operating in business critical environments.
One of the most important news for version 1.1.0 is the availability of Debian and Ubuntu packages (Barman will be officially shipped with Ubuntu 12.10), thanks to our Debian Developer Marco Nenciarini.
Even though version 1.0 came out last July, Barman will be officially presented next Monday, October 15 in Prato (Italy), during the first workshop on disaster recovery of PostgreSQL databases with it.
Enjoy this video.
Gabriele,
Thanks for your work on Barman! It’s gotten easy enough to use that one of our clients was able to deploy it on his own.
Thank you Josh, I extend your praise to the rest of the team. Barman is just 3 months old and there is a lot of road ahead of us, starting from retention policies and streaming replication support.
It would be great for us to have some case studies shown on the website.
Gabriele,
Sadly, this client is high-confidentiality, so zero chance of a case study. We’ll see if a more public company decides to use it.
